School Starts Monday! Charting the C.O.U.R.S.E. to Sea Dragon Success

SCELA Sea Dragon Families,

The countdown is almost over! The first day of school at Savannah-Chatham E-Learning Academy is Monday, August 3, 2026, and we are excited to officially begin the 2026–2027 school year with our Sea Dragon scholars and families!

This year, we are Charting the C.O.U.R.S.E. to Unlimited Possibilities, and a successful voyage begins with being prepared, connected, and ready to learn. As we approach Monday, please review the important information and complete the required next steps below to ensure your Sea Dragon is ready for a strong start.

Your Next Steps to Sea Dragon Success

1.      Make sure your scholar has a district-issued device.
All SCELA scholars are required to use an SCCPSS district-issued device for virtual learning. If your scholar has not yet received a device, please pick it up at 3609 Hopkins Street. Park in the 52nd Street parking lot and report to Room 10.

2.      Review your scholar's schedule in PowerSchool.
Student schedules are available through PowerSchool. Families who need assistance accessing the PowerSchool Parent Portal can visit the SCCPSS Student Information System resources at: PowerSchool Parent Portal Information
a.      Please remember that newly enrolled scholars may experience a 48–72 hour processing period between receiving a PowerSchool schedule and gaining access to all learning platforms through their student login. Scholars will not receive an academic penalty while waiting for access to be established.

3.      Complete the required SCELA Choice Handbook and Agreement sign-off.
All SCELA families should review the 2026–2027 SCELA Choice Student/Parent Handbook [Click Here] and complete the required SCELA Choice Student/Parent Agreement sign-off [Click Here]. These documents outline the expectations and commitments that help our scholars succeed in a virtual learning environment.

4.      Complete the SCCPSS Code of Conduct Agreement.
Parents/guardians must also complete the required SCCPSS Code of Conduct Agreement through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Click Here for instructions.

5.      Become familiar with the tools your scholar will use every day.
SCELA scholars will regularly use platforms such as Brightspace, ClassLink, Microsoft Teams, and other SCCPSS digital resources. Families are encouraged to become familiar with these tools and ensure scholars know how to access their classes before Monday morning.

6.      Know your Homeroom/Advisement teacher.
Your scholar's Homeroom/Advisement teacher will serve as an important point of connection throughout the school year. Please save the teacher's contact information, Microsoft Teams link, and office hours when provided. If technology or access issues arise, communicate with the Homeroom/Advisement teacher and allow appropriate response time during the instructional day.

🌊 Ready for Monday, August 3, 2026!

On Monday, we begin our journey together. We ask every Sea Dragon scholar to log in on time, attend all scheduled classes, actively participate, communicate with teachers, and be ready to learn.

At SCELA, our C.O.U.R.S.E. guides how we learn, grow, and succeed together:

C – Collaborative
O – Optimistic
U – Unstoppable
R – Respectful
S – Self-Directed
E – Excellent

Families, your partnership is essential to this journey. Thank you for helping establish routines, monitoring attendance and academic progress, maintaining communication with teachers, and encouraging your scholar to take ownership of their learning.

We are excited about what lies ahead and look forward to welcoming every Sea Dragon scholar online on Monday, August 3, 2026!

Together, we are Charting the C.O.U.R.S.E. to Unlimited Possibilities!
